Fired Ukraine Defense Chief Fedorov Launches Defense-Tech Company with Palantir CEO Backing
Alex Karp will be the first major investor as Fedorov builds a company focused on drones, AI and safer defense technologies worldwide.
On Tuesday, Sept. 1, former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced a new defense technology company, with Palantir Chief Executive Alex Karp serving as the first major investor.
Fedorov's departure in July, six months into his tenure, followed significant friction with senior military leaders over defense reforms he championed.
The company will prioritize battlefield robotics, AI-enabled missiles, and jet-powered interceptor drones, building on Ukraine's reliance on AI-supported unmanned technology that completed more than 50,000 missions.
Beyond the startup, Fedorov accepted an invitation on Aug. 28 to serve as adviser to Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, while planning a separate defense investment fund and think-tank.
Karp, who has collaborated with Fedorov for five years, said, "You and your colleagues are launching a company that I think will be defining for the world," as Fedorov seeks international capital.
