Ukraine Launches Frontline Weapon Testing Program for Foreign Manufacturers

UKRAINE, JUL 18 – Ukraine's Brave1 cluster enables foreign firms to test military prototypes in combat, providing battlefield feedback to improve weapons amid ongoing conflict with Russia.

  • At the LANDEURO conference in Wiesbaden on July 17, 2025 Brave1 launched the `Test in Ukraine` program, which will see companies send prototypes for battlefield testing and feedback.
  • With Russian forces pressing a grinding offensive across the 1,000km front and intensifying air strikes prompted Ukraine to leverage its emerging defense industry, backing it with foreign investment.
  • Under the program, Brave1 offers direct testing or online training options for foreign companies, matches them with Ukrainian manufacturers for co-production and prioritizes systems like drones and electronic warfare, Brave1 said.
  • According to a June press release, Major defense firms SAAB, Kongsberg, KNDS, Rheinmetall and Raytheon are expanding presence on the front line, and the initiative could supply additional weapons and materiel to troops.
  • To further integrate Ukraine, last week the incubator announced the BraveTechEU partnership to channel €100 million, launched an EU-Ukraine cooperation force, and clarified permit rules for military tech imports.
