A curfew check on an individual at a Whitecourt residence on Aug. 7 resulted in two arrests and the seizure of more than 270,000 suspected contraband cigarettes, according to Alberta RCMP.

Whitecourt RCMP were conducting a curfew check on August 7 when an officer observed possible contraband tobacco at a residence in the town. Further investigation, assisted by the General Investigation Section of the Whitecourt RCMP detachment, confirmed the contraband and revealed another person involved.
