Two Russian mobsters received 25-year sentences after accepting $500,000 from Iran's Revolutionary Guard to assassinate activist Masih Alinejad, prosecutors said.

- Testimony at the March trial showed Khalid Mehdiyev was arrested in 2022 near Alinejad's Brooklyn home with a loaded AK-47, and the jury convicted the men on five counts after a two‑week trial at the Southern District of New York.
- Prosecutors sought longer terms, arguing that they requested 55 years while defense lawyers urged 10 to 13 years, and Masih Alinejad said, `They wanted to see me dead on my porch in Brooklyn...,'
