- The National Hurricane Center said Tropical Storm Erin is on track to become the first Atlantic hurricane of 2025 by August 14 and could reach major status within five days.
- While Tropical Storm Erin is pulling in Saharan dust, it affects its vertical structure, as the season should intensify with monsoonal flow in Africa, according to the National Hurricane Center.
- The NHC reported that Tuesday morning, Erin was about 690 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands, moving west at 22 mph with winds near 45 mph.
- In the Cape Verde Islands, Erin caused flash flooding with 7 to 8 inches of rain in five hours, and at least six people have died.
- The National Hurricane Center says more clarity on Tropical Storm Erin's potential U.S. impacts, including New York and the Northeast, should come by Sunday, with uncertainty for the Greater Antilles, Bahamas, U.S. East Coast, and Bermuda next week.
