Former Austrian finance minister Grasser handed four-year prison term

The district court sentenced the former head of the Academic Hospital to four years in prison for accepting nearly five million kronor in bribes. Now the Court of Appeal is increasing the sentence to 4.5 years in prison.

Austria’s top court has halved Karl-Heinz Grasser’s prison sentence from eight to four years but upheld his conviction in a long-running corruption case involving state-owned apartments.

Because he took bribes in millions, Karl-Heinz Grasser has to go to prison for four years. The Supreme Court in Austria ruled this.
