- On Friday, June 26, 2026, President Bola Tinubu approved the establishment of the National Health Technology and Data Analytics Office and appointed Dr. Obi Adigwe as the pioneer National Coordinator.
- Domiciled within the Office of the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, the NHTDAO serves as a meta-level platform coordinating Nigeria's digital-health agenda and operationalizing the National Digital Health Architecture.
- Prior to this appointment, Adigwe led the roadmap development for an £18 million EU grant and coordinated major projects including the £300m Nanotechnology grant and the AFREXIMBank grant for Africa's first API Training Facility.
- Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare Professor Muhammad Ali Pate and Nigerian Economic Summit Group Chairman Olaniyi Yusuf will co-chair the Steering Committee, providing strategic direction and oversight for the Office.
- President Tinubu expects the NHTDAO to accelerate Nigeria's transition to a secure, interoperable, and data-driven health system, aligning with the administration's "Renewed Hope Agenda" to improve outcomes for all citizens.
