After his third place at the Tour de France last year, expectations for Florian Lipowitz are high. But the competition is bigger - also in the own team.
Germany's cycling star Florian Lipowitz has been given the green light by his team Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe for the upcoming Tour de France for attacks against Tadej Pogacar, Jonas Vincegaard and Co. The clear number one in the team is the 25-year-old but not.
Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe team principal Ralph Denk explained how the leadership issue between Remco Evenepoel and Florian Lipowitz will be handled in the German team at a press conference ahead of the Tour de France. It was his first public appearance on the topic of the team hierarchy for the Tour since Evenepoel moved from Soudal Quick-Step in the winter for a multi-million euro compensation.
With Remco Evenepoel and Florian Lipowitz, Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe will soon head to the Tour de France with two leaders. According to team manager Ralph Denk, that shouldn't be a problem.
