He was born and grew up in Leiria and, after a university period in Lisbon, returned to the city where he was born. Married and father of two children, he worked as an economist and in the areas of tourism, agriculture and insurance until he officially entered politics. Following the storm that devastated Leiria, he has moved worlds and funds to mitigate its effects and recover the city.
