Police arrested the alleged stone-thrower after the impact damaged the train’s front section and briefly halted the Mumbai-Ahmedabad service, officials said.
- On Tuesday, a Mumbai-Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express was allegedly targeted with stones near Utran railway station in Gujarat's Surat district. The incident occurred as the train traveled from Mumbai Central toward Ahmedabad.
- Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, her daughter Anar Patel, and Daman and Diu Administrator Praful Patel were traveling in an executive coach. Actor Anang Desai also boarded the train from Mumbai.
- Stones damaged window panes of coaches C-6 and C-10 as the train crossed the Tapi River bridge. Officials clarified that "VIP passengers were travelling in an executive coach" and nobody was injured.
- Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police teams apprehended a man spotted "moving around suspiciously" near the tracks in the Kosad area, around 2 km from Uttran. Officials are questioning the suspect to determine motive.
- Launched on March 12, 2024, as India's 42nd Vande Bharat service, the 491-kilometre route connects Mumbai Central and Ahmedabad Junction. Network-wide occupancy has consistently exceeded 100 per cent despite occasional security incidents.
