Trump Mocked After Being Given a New 'Award' at Midterm Rally
Mitchell said Trump deserved the honor as critics mocked the handmade award as a sham.
- On Thursday, Iowa House candidate Joe Mitchell presented President Donald Trump with a "Man of the Century" certificate during a campaign rally at Sioux Gateway Airport in Sioux City, Iowa.
- Mitchell called it a "disgrace" that Trump has not received a Nobel Peace Prize, stating "this man has done more for humanity and for America than any other president ever."
- Critics on social media mocked the gesture as an obvious sham, noting the gold-framed certificate was purchased at a Michaels frame shop for $15.
- While accepting the certificate, Trump criticized this year's Nobel winner, South African human rights attorney and International Criminal Court judge Navanethem Navi Pillay, 85.
- Suitors frequently bestow awards on Trump to fill his desire for accolades, including those from Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado and the "FIFA Peace Prize" from FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
