Portland Thorns’ Season Ends with Semifinal Loss to Washington Spirit

On Saturday, the Washington Spirit defeated the Portland Thorns 2-0 in an NWSL semifinal at Audi Field .

The win sends the Washington Spirit to their second straight NWSL final next weekend in San Jose, California, marking the fourth championship appearance in club history and a final against Sunday's Gotham FC–Orlando Pride winner.
After last season's final loss to the Orlando Pride, the Washington Spirit will get a shot at true vengeance on Nov. 22 in San Jose, California, despite injuries, maternity leaves, and a midseason coaching change.
