Russian forces reportedly breach Ukrainian defences in eastern Donetsk

Russian forces have advanced nearly 15 kilometers toward a key logistics route, threatening to encircle Ukrainian-held areas and consolidate control over strategic settlements, DeepState reports.

  • On August 12, 2025, Reuters reported Russian forces advanced north in two prongs, threatening the Dobropillia–Kramatorsk highway in Donetsk Oblast.
  • Since spring, Moscow troops have extended their offensive between Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka, gaining pace over August and threatening logistics routes with FPV drones.
  • DeepState's Aug. 11 map shows Russian forces have advanced into Kucheriv Yar, Zolotyi Kolodiaz, Vesele, and are attempting to establish a foothold in Petrivka and Novovodiane.
  • As a result, Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad are almost surrounded, and civilian evacuations remain extremely dangerous amid accusations Russian forces target non-combatants.
  • Facing peace negotiations, Russia aims to strengthen its position ahead of potential talks, as DeepState warns further consolidation could lead to Dobropillia falling faster than Pokrovsk.
