Now that elections are approaching, all stories from politicians about the fall of the Schoof cabinet are colored, because they are part of the campaign. Apart from the exact fall: what are the underlying reasons that this cabinet never got going?
The first Ipsos I&O seat poll after the fall of the Schoof cabinet shows that most voters consider the PVV responsible for this. However, that does not lead to a loss of seat for Wilders' party. Indeed, a substantial minority supports his way of working, so that the PVV also comes out the largest in this poll. This is what research commissioned by the NOS shows.
Immediately upon installation I predicted: Cabinet Schoof will not last a year. Not because I have political ambitions myself – on the contrary. I am totally unsuited for it: impatient, uncompromising, demanding and determined. But I am blessed with a sharp analytical mind and a surprisingly well-developed political instinct.
