According to recent data from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, the number of building permits issued has increased significantly, by 37 percent, which suggests that construction may pick up again in the coming years.
Hardly any homes have been built so far this year. However, the Home Start Program has brought a boost, with the number of building permits increasing by more than a third.
In the first three quarters of 2025, 7,490 new apartments were built, 14% less than a year earlier. The number of apartments to be built based on issued building permits and simple notifications was 19,947, 37% more than in the same period in 2024.
