Gilroy Garlic Festival to return for first time in 6 years
- The Gilroy Garlic Festival is returning for the first time in six years, scheduled for July 25th, 26th, and 27th, 2025, at the South County Picnic Grove at Gilroy Gardens.
- The festival's return follows a hiatus since 2019, when a mass shooting tragically ended the annual tradition.
- The 2019 mass shooting at Christmas Hill resulted in three fatalities and seventeen injuries, abruptly halting the festival, which had drawn around 100,000 attendees for nearly 40 years and served as a key fundraiser for local nonprofits.
- Due to increased insurance liability costs from $6 million to $10 million after the shooting, the Gilroy Garlic Festival Association is grateful for the support of the Gilroy community, the city of Gilroy, Gilroy Gardens, and dedicated partners in making the return possible.
- This year's festival will be a limited-capacity event, welcoming up to 3,000 guests per day, with tickets available online only, and will feature signature garlic dishes, live entertainment, arts and crafts, and long-running traditions.
