The Consent Act opens the door for "yes" to be used as a weapon against women

Last fall, when 51 Frenchmen stood trial for raping 72-year-old Gisèle Pelicot, judge Roger Arata asked each of them the same question: Did you have the impression that Gisèle Pelicot was capable of giving consent?

The proposed consent law risks becoming a free pass for abusers, especially if cultural misunderstandings are used as a defense, and could paradoxically make women lawless in the legal system. A consent law could similarly give a free pass to the world's most annoying women: those who report when they regret having had sexual intercourse with a man they no longer like.
