Thailand threatens to suspend truce deal with Cambodia after a land mine injures troops
Thailand halted all peace deal actions, including releasing 18 Cambodian soldiers, after two Thai troops were injured by a landmine amid ongoing border security concerns, officials said.
- On Nov 10, 2025, Thailand suspended implementation of a U.S.-brokered ceasefire with Cambodia after a landmine in Sisaket province injured two Thai soldiers, one with a severe leg injury.
- Last month, in Kuala Lumpur, U.S. President Donald Trump oversaw the signing of a truce after July clashes that killed at least 43 and displaced over 300,000 civilians.
- Government spokesman Siripong Angkasakulkiat said, `The follow-up to the joint declaration that we have been doing for about a week will stop`, and Bangkok will halt the planned Nov 21 release of 18 Cambodian soldiers.
- Thailand accused Cambodia of laying new mines in violation of the truce, which Cambodia denies, and Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul asked the South-east Asian military observer team to investigate and said he will visit the injured soldiers on Nov 11.
- The seventh blast in four months risks undermining removal of heavy weapons between Nov 1 and Dec 31 and mine-clearance obligations under the fragile truce since July 29.
