Multi-State Sex Trafficking Ring Exposed at Southfield Hotel
SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN, JUL 24 – Randolph Lewis allegedly trafficked women across Texas, Louisiana, and Michigan, with about 10 victims involved, according to Southfield Police and the Oakland County Human Trafficking Task Force.
- Southfield police arrested 33-year-old Randolph Demarcus Lewis of Texas on July 21 at a Quality Inn hotel for alleged multi-state human trafficking involving at least 10 victims.
- The arrest followed a domestic disturbance call about Lewis damaging a 21-year-old victim's car windows, who then revealed she was trafficked between Texas and Louisiana for about a year.
- Police found Lewis renting three hotel rooms and discovered evidence such as sex toys and electronics consistent with trafficking, while the victim described repeated assaults and forced sex with Lewis controlling her earnings.
- Chief Elvin Barren warned that traffickers entering Southfield face a strong likelihood of having their illegal activities uncovered and being subjected to enforcement measures, highlighting that some victims, including individuals as young as 17, were forced into sex trafficking.
- Lewis is hospitalized after self-injury in custody and faces multiple charges; he will be held on a $300,000 bond and is due back in court August 4, while police continue searching for other victims.
