KERR COUNTY, TEXAS, JUL 6 – Search-and-rescue efforts continue after flash floods along the Guadalupe River killed at least 67 people, with officials warning the toll may exceed 100, including many children missing from a summer camp.
On July 4, 2025, Kerr County, Texas experienced catastrophic flooding that killed at least 90 people and left dozens missing.
The flooding occurred despite National Weather Service flood watches and state resource deployments, but sudden waters surged over 26 feet in less than an hour.
A 26-foot wall of water overwhelmed roads, bridges, camps, and homes, including at Camp Mystic, a Christian girls camp where 11 remain unaccounted for.
Kerrville City Manager Dalton Rice and Texas emergency officials acknowledged the difficulty of evacuation decisions and pledged to review emergency protocols following public scrutiny.
Volunteers and aid groups continue rescue and recovery, while communities along the Guadalupe River face a long rebuilding process amid ongoing search efforts.
