An icon of Colorado and Routt County’s early transportation era has a new home. The Tread of Pioneers Museum has completed a capital building project for “The Pilot” — an 1860s horse-drawn stage wagon that once connected the remote Yampa Valley to the Wolcott rail line and beyond from 1888 to 1909.
