A group of armed fighters attacked the predominantly Christian town of Scalbiya in the rural areas of Hama province and told local residents and activists that the armed forces of the Government had entered the city and that the attack had taken place on Sunday, 3 October. Armed fighters from the neighbouring town of Kalaat al-Madik had freely passed through security checkpoints.
