Hampshire Ambulance Service Announces 'First-of-Its-Kind' Partnership

The new group will enhance emergency care for over 4.9 million people in South East England by sharing expertise and resources, starting phased transition in late 2025.

  • This year South Central Ambulance Service and South East Coast Ambulance Service will form the South Central and South East Ambulance Group, with a phased transition from late this year through to 2027 as the first of its kind in England.
  • NHS England backed the move, saying it aligns with the NHS 10 Year Plan and Anne Eden called it a `real opportunity to improve care and access for our patients, while offering better value for money.`
  • Both trusts will continue operating independently while collaborating on digital innovation, clinical best practice and workforce development, sharing expertise and resources to benefit patients.
  • Care navigation will aim to reduce unnecessary ED visits, improving patient outcomes and strengthening the regional ambulance system's resilience.
  • Serving more than 4.9 million people, the partnership aims to deliver more consistent, high-quality ambulance services across East and West Sussex, Brighton and Hove, Kent and Medway, Surrey and parts of North East Hampshire.
