Group Captain Shukla Has Completed All Seven Microgravity Experiments Onboard ISS: ISRO
INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION, JUL 14 – Shubhanshu Shukla’s experiments on plants, microbes, and cellular processes support India’s human spaceflight goals and space biotechnology development, ISRO said.
- Commander Shubhanshu Shukla successfully conducted all seven microgravity experiments aboard the ISS during the Axiom-4 mission and returned to Earth on July 14, 2025.
- The mission followed approvals starting with Modi's 2018 Gaganyaan endorsement and involved extensive preparations including repeated flight postponements and a 30-day quarantine.
- Shukla conducted experiments on biological samples like Indian tardigrades and crop seeds, engaged with students, and experienced unique conditions such as a microgravity haircut by astronaut Nichole Ayers.
- SIA-India Director General Anil Prakash praised the mission for propelling India toward global space biotech leadership and emphasized the public-private partnership behind it.
