OKLAHOMA CITY — Gov. Kevin Stitt amended an executive order adding Beaver, Canadian, Grady, Hughes, McIntosh and Oklahoma Counties to a disaster declaration after a derecho caused considerable damage to public and private property in across the state.

Stitt Expands Disaster Declaration After Derecho Damage

Governor Kevin Stitt has amended Oklahoma’s disaster declaration to include six additional counties following damage caused by a recent derecho. The amended executive order adds Beaver, Canadian, Grady, Hughes, McIntosh and Oklahoma counties to the state’s emergency declaration as damage assessments continue. “Damage assessments are still ongoing. Oklahomans can help by quickly assessing any damage on their property and reporting it to state and local emergency managers,” Stitt said. “Thank you to the first responders who are working quickly to clear debris and keeping Oklahomans safe.” The declaration directs state agencies to make resources available as needed to protect lives and assist with recovery efforts. The response is being coordinated by the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management in partnership with local jurisdictions and federal agencies when necessary. State officials are encouraging residents and business owners affected by the storms to report damage through the state’s damage assessment portal. Emergency management officials said assessments are continuing and additional counties could be added to the disaster declaration as more information becomes available.
