- Amid media speculation ahead of his arrival, Mr Trump has said he is open to meeting Mr Kim, remarks he made in a press briefing aboard Air Force One on Friday before the APEC gathering in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province.
- After three rounds of talks this month, negotiators say South Korean negotiators and Washington remain deadlocked over details of a US$350 billion investment package included in a preliminary trade deal reached in July.
- Seoul nonetheless remains ready to prepare if needed, and Oh Hyun-joo said President Lee Jae-myung does not believe South Korea must join a U.S.-North Korea meeting, with no request from Washington to arrange one.
