Harmer, Rabada Steer South Africa to Series Win over Australia
On Saturday, October 31, 2026, South Africa defeated Australia by 176 runs in the third Test at Newlands, Cape Town, clinching the three-match series 2-1 after bowling the visitors out for 111.
The Proteas rallied from 1-0 down to complete the turnaround, marking the first series between the teams in South Africa since the 'Sandpapergate' scandal in 2018.
Off-Spinner Simon Harmer claimed a career-best 6/16 with match figures of 10/120, while fast bowler Kagiso Rabada reached 350 career Test wickets during his match-defining 3/39 spell.
With this victory, South Africa dethroned Australia to claim the top spot in the International Cricket Council world Test rankings for the first time since January 2016.
The win keeps alive South Africa's hopes of defending their World Test Championship title next year, building on their 2025 decider victory against Australia at Lord's.
