A fire in a Bangor apartment building on Monday night was stopped quickly thanks to working smoke detectors and attentive neighbors. The fire at 253 Center St. was reported around 7:30 p.m. by upstairs neighbors, who were alerted by a smoke detector and called 911, Bangor Fire Department Assistant Chief Greg Hodge said.
