SK Telecom and NVIDIA Build AI Infrastructure to Power Korea’s AI Innovation
The project will support sovereign, physical and agentic AI services and aims to improve time to production and token performance per megawatt, officials said.
- On Sunday, NVIDIA and SK Telecom announced plans to build a gigawatt-scale AI Cloud in South Korea using the NVIDIA DSX platform, with the first AI factory expected to come online in 2027.
- "Telecom networks are becoming national AI infrastructure," said Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, as the initiative leverages South Korea's status as a leading industrial economy deploying secure, production-grade AI.
- "Through our close partnership with NVIDIA, we have now secured full-stack AI infrastructure capabilities," said Chey Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group, with both companies planning joint research on next-generation AI factory architectures.
- SK Telecom will become an NVIDIA Cloud Partner to deliver AI performance and economics through cloud services, supporting Scale Agentic and Physical AI for enterprises across South Korea.
- Last week at GTC Taipei, SK Telecom applied NVIDIA Omniverse libraries to semiconductor manufacturing, and in April the company adopted NVIDIA Nemotron datasets for the Sovereign AI Foundation Model Project.
