- The Indiana State Police are leading the investigation with assistance from the Santa Claus Police Department, which has five full-time officers in the town of fewer than 3,000 residents known for Holiday World.
- Investigators noted the community is roughly a 70-minute drive northeast of Evansville, with Santa Claus sitting about an hour outside Louisville.
