Nine More Terrorists Killed in Operation Shaban in Balochistan: State Media
Security sources said the joint counterterrorism campaign has killed 102 militants since July 5 after attacks on police and other personnel.
Security forces killed 14 more terrorists on Saturday, bringing the total militants neutralized during Operation Shaban since July 5 to 102. The Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, and Balochistan Police continue the joint campaign.
The operation launched following a deadly terrorist ambush at a Mangi dam police station that killed 27 police personnel. Terrorists later murdered the abducted officers, whose bodies were discovered in the Zarghoon Gar mountainous area.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared a "mutual and singular decision" to collectively end terrorism during a Provincial Apex Committee meeting on Thursday. The Balochistan government issued Rs11.1m in compensation to families of martyred police personnel.
A United Nations Security Council report highlighted "close coordination" between the Baloch Liberation Army and Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, citing high-complexity attacks. Security sources confirmed Operation Shaban will continue until "the last terrorist" is eliminated.
At least 42 people—including civilians, police, and security personnel—have lost their lives since July 5 during these clashes. Police recovered four bodies in Sibi district on Saturday, underscoring continued regional instability.
