Sausalito City Manager Arrested for Burglary While on Leave, Allegedly Broke Into Yacht
Deputies said Forbes was found aboard a yacht that did not belong to her, and bail was set at $50,000.
- On Saturday, Sausalito City Manager Elaine Forbes was arrested on suspicion of burglary at the Sausalito Yacht Harbor, just three weeks after starting her $275,000-a-year position on July 1.
- Two days before the arrest, the Sausalito City Council placed Forbes on administrative leave during a closed session, while family spokesperson Sam Singer stated she is "experiencing a mental health crisis."
- Sheriff's office deputies found Forbes aboard a 66-foot yacht, where she allegedly "discarded or consumed alcohol and manipulated the control as if she was attempting to steal the vessel."
- The City of Sausalito confirmed operations continue under Acting City Manager Brandon Phipps, with the City Council scheduled to "discuss next steps" at its meeting this Tuesday.
- Prior to her Sausalito appointment, Forbes served nine years as San Francisco Port Director, managing major infrastructure projects and a staff of roughly 270 until December of last year.
