Smith unveils plans for redesigned Delta Center, 450-stall parking garage outside
- Smith Entertainment Group announced a multi-phase plan starting in April 2025 to remodel Salt Lake City's Delta Center into a dual-sport venue for the Utah Jazz and Utah Hockey Club.
- This extensive renovation responds to the need for improved hockey sightlines while preserving the arena’s intimate basketball atmosphere through a never-before-used retractable seating system.
- The project features a new seating system with a 12-foot elevation variance, increased capacity to 17,000 for hockey and nearly 19,000 for basketball, plus upgrades including a new entrance, outdoor plaza, and a 450-stall parking garage.
- SEG executive Jim Olson explained that elevating the floor was essential to ensure unobstructed views of the ice for hockey from all seats throughout both the upper and lower levels.
- The renovation is scheduled for completion in 2027, with the parking garage opening in 2026, and it is expected to boost attendance, generate significant tax revenue, and support Salt Lake City’s status as a premier event destination.
