Saint George the Great, one of the most important saints in the Orthodox Christian Calendar, is celebrated by Orthodox people this year on Tuesday (April 23rd).One of the widespread practices on St George's Day is decorating the house with plants, a custom that marks the resurrection of nature.More than a million Romanians celebrate their homage to Saint George, the Directorate for the Evidence of Persons and Database Administration says.

Saint George is recognised as one of the most important defenders of Christianity, and in 2024 his holiday will be celebrated on 23 April.
