Alec Baldwin is an outlaw in first ‘Rust’ trailer since fatal on-set shooting
- On October 21, 2021, during the production of the film *Rust*, Alec Baldwin mistakenly fired a prop gun containing a live round on the New Mexico set, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza.
- The film *Rust*, set in 1880s Kansas, follows Harland Rust as he breaks his grandson Lucas McCalister , who was sentenced to death after accidentally killing a rancher, out of jail, leading them to become fugitives pursued by a U.S. Marshal and a bounty hunter .
- Following the shooting, investigators found live bullets on the *Rust* set, and Santa Fe Police Department officer Nicholas LeFleur, who was first on the scene, testified that Baldwin was not separated from other witnesses and was told to stop talking.
- In the trailer for *Rust*, Harland Rust tells Lucas McCalister, "Some things in this life you can't get back, I reckon."
- After the charges against Alec Baldwin were dismissed and armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to 18 months in prison, *Rust* is set to premiere in theaters and on VOD on May 2, with Hutchins credited as cinematographer and her husband Matthew Hutchins listed as an executive producer, with profits going to Hutchins' son Andros.
