Russia tries to jam Musk's Starlink systems to counter Ukrainian drones
Russian units are hiding fuel and supplies in civilian vehicles and buildings while testing jammers that can disrupt Starlink-linked drones, commanders said.
- Russian forces are deploying powerful 'Volna Kupol Garant' jamming systems to disrupt Starlink-guided Ukrainian mid-strike drones, with roughly 10 units detected across about 20 sq km.
- Ukraine's mid-strike campaign has become a critical battlefield development this year, targeting logistics to disrupt Russian operations and causing fuel shortages in Russian-occupied Crimea.
- Beyond electronic warfare, Russian forces are concealing military supplies within civilian petrol stations, abandoned buildings, and agricultural structures, while utilizing civilian vehicles to transport ammunition.
- The 422nd Unmanned Systems Regiment successfully struck two jamming installations in a joint SBU security service mission, after which crew commander Dyryhent reported Starlink-equipped drones flew without connectivity issues.
- Rob Lee, a senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, warns that scaling jammer production could significantly hinder Ukrainian operations, defining an ongoing race between Ukrainian drone innovation and Russian defensive tactics.
