The United States announces that it is lifting sanctions it imposed on a close associate of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Antal Rogan, a sign of the close relations between Hungary and the Donald Trump administration, the State Department announced in a statement.

“The U.S. has removed sanctions from the chief of staff of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, the latest move by the Trump administration to dissociate itself from decisions taken by former president Joe Biden,” the Financial Times reports.

Antal Rogan, the man who will benefit from the decision, was sanctioned in January for alleged corruption, a measure that Budapest has pledged to challenge once Trump returns to the White House, writes Reuters.…
