Rabbi Yair Fran, the great-grandson of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, attacked his family and the Haredi MKs in an interview over the discussion surrounding the draft law, claiming: "It is a disgrace that the State of Israel gives a salary to people who disrespect the Torah of Israel."
Rabbi Yair Paran, a reserve soldier and grandson of Rabbi Ovadia, claims that Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef's words harm the Haredi public and the State of Israel: "The evasion law is a disgrace for generations," he claimed in an interview with 103FM. "Rabbi Ovadia said throughout his life that anyone who does not study Torah should enlist in the IDF."
