BJP Names New State Presidents for Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Tripura
Kewal Singh Dhillon takes charge in Punjab as the BJP names four new state chiefs and seeks a stronger organisational push before the 2027 polls.
On Thursday, the Bharatiya Janata Party announced a major organizational reshuffle, appointing new state unit presidents for Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Tripura.
The party appointed Kewal Singh Dhillon as Punjab unit president, replacing Sunil Jakhar; analysts suggest this strategic move aims to project a Sikh face in Punjab ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
Union Minister Harsh Malhotra replaces Virendra Sachdeva as Delhi BJP president; a first-time MP, Malhotra defeated the INDIA bloc's Kuldeep Kumar by 93,663 votes in the 2024 general elections.
Following his appointment, Dhillon claimed "Gunda Raj" prevails in Punjab, vowing to discharge his duties with dedication and stating the party's "Lotus" will bloom in Punjab to form government in 2027.
The party also named Archana Gupta as Haryana state president and Abhishek Debroy to lead the Tripura state unit to sharpen organizational machinery across states with varying political challenges.
