HBL PSL 12 to Return with Eight Teams

The tournament will keep its eight-team format after last season’s record crowds and first player auction, the PCB said.

  • On Thursday, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced the 12th edition of the Pakistan Super League will run from March 18 to May 2, 2027, retaining its expanded eight-team format for a second successive season.
  • This upcoming season builds on the expanded 2026 campaign, which introduced the league's first player auction and culminated in Peshawar Zalmi defeating Hyderabad Kingsmen for the title.
  • "We are committed to delivering another outstanding season," PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said, noting that PSL 11 set a high benchmark with record crowds and broadcasts.
  • PSL Chief Executive Salman Naseer said preparations are underway, adding that "Direct signings, retentions, the trade window and the auction will each bring their own excitement in the months ahead."
  • The PCB will announce specific match schedules, venues, and ticketing arrangements in due course, following consultations with franchise owners at a September 1 meeting in London.
