Children of slain Minnesota lawmaker Melissa Hortman: 'We are devastated'
BROOKLYN PARK, MINNESOTA, JUN 18 – Vance Boelter was arrested after a 36-hour manhunt and charged with murder and attempted murder in the politically motivated killing of Minnesota Democratic lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her husband.
- Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her spouse, Mark, were tragically killed early on June 14 in their Brooklyn Park residence by an individual posing as a police officer.
- Vance Boelter, 57, was taken into custody Sunday night following a two-day manhunt and faces prosecution for two second-degree murder charges as well as two counts of attempted second-degree murder.
- Governor Tim Walz described the incident as likely driven by political motives, and officials disclosed that Boelter possessed a list containing 70 additional targets, which included individuals from Iowa and neighboring states.
