Two Men From Surrey Jailed After Child Sex Offences
- Stephen Ireland, co-founder of Pride in Surrey, was jailed for 13 years in 2024 after raping a vulnerable 12-year-old boy he met on Grindr in Addlestone.
- Ireland and his then-partner David Sutton, also found guilty of child sexual offences including voyeurism and possession of prohibited images, had discussed procuring a 13-year-old boy in 2022 for Sutton's birthday.
- The court heard Ireland and Sutton recorded a 16-year-old without consent in March 2024 and deleted incriminating data from their phones after being released on bail in June 2024.
- Judge Patricia Lees said Ireland exploited a highly sexualised child and praised the victim's courage, while the defence denied abuse of Ireland's Surrey Pride role; Sutton was jailed for four and a half years.
- Matthew Myatt, separately sentenced to four years for grooming and sexual offences against teenage girls between 2016 and 2017, was described by his victim as causing irreversible damage.
