After 347 days since his inauguration as president, Peter Pellegrini spoke for the first time in the plenary session of the parliament with a speech on the state of the Slovak Republic.

Commentary by Matúš Kostolný: The Slovak president stood before the deputies on Wednesday to deliver his first report on the state of the republic. More important than what he said, however, is what was not said. He did not talk about human rights and democracy. And he did not talk about the haciendas that the people of Směr built with state and European money.

Peter Pellegrini delivered his State of the Republic report to parliament for the first time in office. The president's speech, as well as his entire year of office, could be summarized very simply. Once again, the current head of state said nothing. If anything, it was only about himself.
