INDIA, JUL 17 – Indore leads the Super Swachh League after winning eight consecutive years, with over 140 million citizens participating in the world’s largest urban cleanliness survey, officials said.
- On July 17, 2025, President Droupadi Murmu conferred Swachh Survekshan 2024-25 Awards at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, with 78 awards presented during the ceremony.
- With over 4,500 cities assessed, SS 2024-25 marks the ninth edition and the world’s largest urban cleanliness survey, highlighting the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle theme.
- Over 3,000 assessors conducted inspections in every ward over 45 days, with 14 crore citizens engaged through multiple channels, based on 10 parameters and 54 indicators.
- Indore secured its eighth consecutive cleanest city title, while Surat and Navi Mumbai entered the Super Swachh League, and Shri Manohar Lal presented special awards.
- Next month, Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal announced the Accelerated Dumpsite Remediation program starting Aug 15, 2025, to fast-track waste cleanup and increase scientific processing capacity.
