Poll: Majority of Americans believe country not adhering to founding ideals
The poll found 89% of Republicans, 85% of Democrats and 79% of independents support the principles, but only 31% say they are practiced well.
Eighty-Six percent of registered U.S. voters support America's founding principles, including individual rights and government by the people's consent.
Only 31% of voters believe the founding principles are well practiced in the country as it nears its 250th anniversary.
Support for founding principles is high among Republicans , Democrats , and Independents .
Only 44% of Republicans believe these founding principles are currently upheld.
