A dangerous avalanche occurred on Broad Peak, killing renowned Polish mountaineer Waldemar Kowalewski. He suffered a serious leg injury and is currently trapped in a tent at an altitude of approximately 6,500 meters. Rescue efforts are hampered by difficult weather conditions.
Renowned Polish mountaineer Waldemar Kowalewski found himself in the path of an avalanche on Broad Peak. He is injured, with a broken leg above Camp 2. Our liaison officer has already passed the information on to the Pakistani army, but bad weather is approaching from the south, so we don't know if or when the avalanche will arrive," Łukasz Supergan, who is in the area, wrote on Instagram.
