Police say a man stabbed and wounded 3 people at a Swiss train station before being arrested
Police say the suspect was arrested within minutes, and one victim underwent emergency surgery as investigators examine possible radicalization.
On Thursday, a 31-year-old Swiss man stabbed three people at the train station in Winterthur, Switzerland, before police arrested him; victims aged 28, 43, and 52 were transported to hospitals.
The attack happened shortly after 8:30 a.m., according to Zurich regional police, prompting a major operation at the station; authorities provided no information on injury severity.
Swiss newspaper Blick reported obtaining a video showing a man running from the station concourse shouting "Allahu Akbar," an Arabic phrase meaning God is great, while eyewitnesses described him holding a knife.
Police stated the knife attack is under active investigation to determine the suspect's motive, while the 31-year-old remains in custody following his arrest.
Winterthur, located in northeastern Switzerland near the country's largest city, Zurich, has about 123,000 residents and serves as a regional transit hub.
