Watch Placebo Debut 'Helen Keller' and Dust Off Rarities and Deep Cuts on 30th Anniversary Tour
The song reworks a hidden 1996 instrumental and was produced with Adam Noble as Placebo marks 30 years since its debut album.
- Placebo shared a new single, "Helen Keller," as they kicked off their 30th anniversary tour on September 28 at the Super Bock Arena in Porto, focusing exclusively on material from their first two albums.
- Recorded in London earlier this year, the track was produced by Placebo and Adam Noble, drawing its eerie keyboard melody from "H.K. Farewell," a hidden instrumental from the band's 1996 self-titled debut.
- Brian Molko said the song was "inspired by the piano melody from 'H.K. Farewell' and named after one of my favourite people from history." In June, the band released "Placebo RE," reworking all 10 original tracks as a "director's cut."
- Following their European run, the band will perform across Ireland and the UK in late November and early December, including stops in Dublin, Manchester, London, and Cardiff. A Latin American leg begins February 20, 2027 in São Paulo.
- NME gave the project a four-star review, describing it as "a renaissance rock record with an experimental edge" and finding Placebo "inspired and ready for a new era." Their most recent album of entirely new material remains 2022's "Never Let Me Go.
