PayPal's New Cross-Border Payments Platform Looks to Make Sending Money Easier for 2 Billion Users
GLOBAL, JUL 23 – PayPal World will enable nearly two billion users to transact internationally using domestic wallets and local currencies without new accounts or currency conversions.
- On July 23, 2025, PayPal unveiled PayPal World, a platform enabling interoperability between PayPal and Venmo, connecting major digital wallets and payment systems.
- PayPal said the platform will simplify cross-border payments for nearly two billion consumers and businesses while Alex Chriss described the challenge of moving money across borders as complex and said the platform will make it easy.
- According to PayPal, initial partners include Mercado Pago, NPCI International Payments Limited's UPI and Tencent Holdings' Tenpay Global, with PayPal and Venmo becoming seamlessly interoperable, PayPal said, adding nearly two billion users globally.
