Unaccepted mating caused an altercation between two Steller sea lions in Pairi Daiza on Sunday, 8 June. The male, during the period of rut, was aggressive after the female refused. The incident led to the temporary closure of the area concerned.
On Sunday, part of Pairi Daiza was closed for a while after a male Steller sea lion tried to mount a female. "We are waiting for the male to go to the other pool," Pairi Daiza said.
